Before opening Morris Legal and beginning his law practice, Morris started his career in finance. First at a San Francisco-based quantitative research and investment management boutique firm, then at Deutsche Bank, and finally at Natexis Banque Populaire before founding his own New York City-based investment firm and hedge fund in 2006, HAGIN Investment Management. Morris sold the firm in 2014 to focus on law as well as corporate restructuring and turnaround.

Morris’ legal and investment insights are often featured in media outlets: The Wall Street Journal, MSNBC, Bloomberg, US News, and The Street. He is also a regular keynote speaker at conferences such as Quant Invest, Reuters Hedge World, and IMN. Morris’ financial markets analyses have been peer-reviewed and published in IMCA’s Investment & Wealth Monitor, Absolute Return Magazine, and HFM Week many times over the years.

Morris is the lead independent director of Nordaq Alaska. Additionally, he serves on the advisory boards of biotech, finance, and UAV companies: M3 Life Sciences, SureFire Capital, and SMJ Drones. He is a member of the New York City Bar Association Aeronautics Committee. Morris is a founding member of the Society for Financial Econometrics (SoFiE).

Morris lives in New York City with his wife and their two young children. In addition to his law and finance practices, Morris and his wife, Kate have produced six feature films together. Their projects have won worldwide acclaim at the Sundance Film Festival, Tribeca Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, the Oldenburg International Film Festival, and many others.

Morris is licensed to practice law in New York and is admitted to the First Department, Eastern District (EDNY), Southern District (SDNY), and 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals.
